WHY ASSET PROTECTION TRUSTS RARELY PREVAIL IN WASHINGTON STATE

The In Re Huber case (May 17, 2013 U.S. Bankruptcy Court For Western District of Washington) is Exhibit A as to why asset protection trusts (including Alaska Domestic Protection Trusts) rarely survive attacked by a determined creditor. If you are a Washington resident and have Washington assets rarely can you protect those assets through the use of a self-settled trust.

Great article in Forbes on the gory details. An old saying that ‘pigs get fat but hogs get slaughtered.’ Here Huber got greedy and got slaughtered.
